Yes, I suck.
I’m really sorry about the gap in posts, especially since I’ve had some time with the internet in the past few days.
The trip north was quite hairy. Rain the whole time (there and back), which made driving a chore. The waterpump decided to stop working and we almost got into an accident on the way there, and got a flat tire on the way back.
I had thought we would be staying at a B&B in the area, but it turned out to be the IT manager’s guesthouse. He and his wife were kind and hospitable, but very conservative and religious. I’m certain that the fact that Les and I were unmarried caused a bit of controversy.
We stopped at Ulrich’s on the way home (Friday), and Les helped him with a document for work. The two of them didn’t stop working until 2am, so we stayed over.
Saturday, we met Les’s friend Hennie and his wife Monika for breakfast and then went to the Vortrekker monument (V. crowded, we didn’t stay long) and the Samuel Marks Museum (was gorgeous!), then went back to their house to braai and watch Rugby.
Hennie and Monika were very nice and it was a pleasant day, but I was tired and grumpy from the trip and was totally out of clean clothes. I did my best to stay in decent spirits all day, and I hope my company was acceptable.
Hennie did let us borrow Dexter, and I’ve spent a decent amount of time catching Les up on past seasons. That’s what we did Saturday night and Sunday morning, anyway.
Sunday was gaming, and it went quite well. I think everyone’s starting to get a hang of their characters and Ul promises more swag. Whee!
On Monday, Ul picked me up from home and took me through to Centurion Mall, where we shopped for food for dinner and I also picked up some yarn for Christmas presents.
I made dinner for Ul and Les, and we hung out at Ul’s for a little bit before heading back home.
Yesterday, I stayed home and got a lot of work done on a WIP. Les and I went out for drinks with Ulricke, Arwen and Arwen’s boyfriend, Ben. It was nice.
Today, Les stayed home in the morning to research mechanic options. (The car will be worked on tomorrow and he’s staying home with me for a bit!) We both went into the office about noon and I’ve been doing the internet thing, which is nice.
I also got to work on Ul’s thing for work. It was the first copy editing I’ve done for awhile, and it was nice to focus on something familiar. Les is going to help me with my CV so I can apply as a freelance editor at SJgames.
I’d love to hear from people, it’s been awfully quiet on the homefront. I hope everything’s going well with people at home.
